Blackboard Team February 11th

In attendance; Meegan Willi, Garry Brand, Bill Frikken, Jose Mora

1) How things are going from the infrastructure (server, table space, diskspace, database, performance, etc.) perspective

  • More faculty have been contacting DLIT recently because they are over their course quota.
  • Is there a way to proactively address this issue?
  • Would a targeted email to faculty close to their course quota help?
  • Action step: Mark – is there a way to determine which courses are near or at their quota?

2) Discussing and debriefing the response of the help desk and issues with the mailing problem over the weekend (were there any IT broadcasts of outage)

  • There will be a meeting in IT to discuss this issue.
  • There was no communication to faculty related to the downtime.
  • A new process has been developed in IT for incident review.
  • Potential action: Contact Kurt Meinders regarding the downtime

3) Updates from the help desk (common issues or reports)

  • n/a

4) Pearson Building Block needs to be tested and scheduled for production

  • Action step:Mark – we need to install the Pearson building block on test, is that bb16?

5) SP11 needs to be installed on Test (bb18)

  • Action step: Mark – install SP11 on bb18.

6) What are the performance strategies for improving test environment (it’s too slow for effective testing)

  • Add to next week’s Blackboard Team Meeting agenda.

7) Automation improvements (updates)

  • Bill is taking a workshop on SIS integration at BbWorld.

8) Faculty request related to contacting multiple sections at once

  • There are two building blocks which allow you to email multiple sections.
  • We need to install the building blocks on test and determine we want to install one of these in production.

What is the status of the accessibility check? Are the courses running on production?
