Donuts with DLIT – November Session

On Thursday, November 15th several faculty and staff members came together over coffee, donuts, bagels, and orange juice to discuss online learning, MOOCs, course quality, and Blackboard use in teaching and learning.  Some of the faculty and staff attending the Donuts and Distance Learning & Blackboard and Bagels event included: Sherry Knoppers, Lauren Teal, Bernie Manker, Marne Apollo, Ric Underhile, Garry Brand, Eric Kunnen, Meegan Willi, Jose More, and Frank Scalabrino.

Discussions centered around a wide variety of topics.  Some of them included the use of video to capture lectures and student presentations.  Camtasia Relay and the mobile Fuse app for Relay was demonstrated and suggested for capturing student speeches.  The use of Blackboard groups, discussions, and group assignments was discussed.  Also the issue of plagiarism was brought up.  The idea of sharing syllabi was offered to improve and ensure that the syllabus has all the required information that is necessary.
