  • Eric Kunnen
    • ETOM Conference – Participated and was the MC at the Fall ETOM Conference as current president of the board.  Garry B delivered the keynote, Szymon M presented on open education resources, and Bill F, Colette S, and Brent S attended the conference also from GRCC.
    • EDUCAUSE Conference – Headed to this conference this week and looking forward to gathering up a wealth of information with focus on learning analytics, mobile, Blackboard, etc.  I am planning to tweet and blog during the event.
    • Bb Survey – Developed and edited Blackboard survey for students and faculty that is delivered every year in the Fall semester.  Shared with EOL faculty and IT for feedback.
    • Ed Tech Magazine Article “How the Hybrid Classroom found a Home at GRCC” – This article highlights the work of GRCC in using Relay and technologies to meet students needs.  Garry B, Marie B, Eric K, and Szymon M are quoted: http://www.edtechmagazine.com/higher/article/2012/11/how-hybrid-classroom-found-home-grand-rapids
    • ADA Benchmarking – Inquired with Purdue U and U of Louisville on their “assistive technology specialist” position that helps support faculty with accessibility issues specifically related to Blackboard and associated products.  That position would work in concert with other campus units in regards to assistive technologies and ADA issues.
    • 2012 AX Partners Program Meeting – Discussion on SP10, new discussion board, and accessibility focus on new tools in Blackboard.
    • Bb Connect 2 Way – Conference call with Bb Connect to setup a 2 way configuration with IT.
    • CD215 Approved By Deans Council Sub-Committee with course developer Deb Vilmont.
    • Retention Rates Request – Sent email to IRP to request retention/success rates for DL vs Traditional.  Working on completing a Instructional Technology Council Survey and the MCCVLC survey is coming soon too that requires this information.
    • State Authorization Meeting – Met with Diane P about this DoE legislation.  The plan is to gather data from other colleges for benchmarking and to continue to track and monitor this law.  I’ve received 3 replies so far and most colleges are monitoring closely, doing some background work, researching where their students are coming in from, and following a wait and see approach.  However, there are a few states that still require information and Bryan V will be gathering up data on our students taking classes out of state.
    • Attened a Retention Focus Webinar through WCET.  Collected the following ideas:Institution Engagement
      1) Implement a survey for those students that withdraw and asking why.  Add to Noel Levitz survey.
      2) Compare withdraws or failures to GPA
      3) Monitor and obtain better use of Starfish Early Alert.
      4) Use Blackboard Analytics and A4L to find students with enrollment histories, demographics (age, gender, new student? course load? retaking course? enrolled in dev ed? GPA? Financial Aid?), online activity (login before, on first day, second date, use of tools), advisement records, etc. = GOAL to find high risk students to give them high touch interventions and use the CRM too.
      5) Add Online Skills to “First Semester Experience” CLS – Time Management, Online Communication, Technical, and use these as diagnostic tools to point out student deficiencies.

      10) What is the retention rate for Fall 2011 and Winter 2012 of our face to face classes?  Of our online classes?  Of hour hybrid classes?  Of our distance learning (online and hybrid combined)?
  • Meegan Willi
    • Attended ISIS Leadership Team Meeting where we discussed the items for the upcoming Deans’ Council Meeting.
    • Attended the Accessible Campus CAP Capacity Subteam Meeting.

    • Reviewed courses for the November Online Course Review Team Meeting which will be on 11/8.
    • Prepped for a Blackboard workshop on the interactive rubrics tool for 11/9.
  • Jose Mora
    • Mary McGraw was having hard time login into Camtasia Relay. She had a name change.
    • Yvonne Daniels wanted to take a paper document and send the information in the document to all of her students. We scanned the document and then pasted it as an announcement and send as an email too to all her students.
    • Robin Springs needed help with exporting test to content system, deploying test, and importing into another course
    • Helped Julie Hess with editing class note for her online class to reflect mandatory in-person testing
    • Helping Nancy Forrest to make sure room is setup for i>Clicker use
    • Edited Collen Copus tutorial video to remove fading black
    • Created new online sections
    • Worked on MCCVLC Information Request
    • Changed class descriptions
    • Processed reimbursements
    • Processed invoices
    • Used wave toolbar to make sure all pictures have alt tags
    • Answered incoming phone calls
    • Answered DLIT email

Garry Brand – 8 Hours per Week

  • Providing technical assistance to DLIT as it pertains to the Online/Hybrid Certification Course. For example, make recommendations for changes in the OHCC, assist with faculty professional development, review and synthesize data.
  • Providing advice about the current state of OHCC and make recommendations for improvements or other changes.
  • Making recommendations for changes to distance-delivered education, especially as they pertain to recommendations made by the Higher Learning Commission; assisting with the implementation of those changes.
  • Co-facilitating the Online Hybrid Certification Course.

Gary Ebels, Lisa Gloege, and Mursalata Muhammad- 4 Hours Per Week

  • Providing faculty professional development with emphasis on instructional technologies to peers.
  • Reviewing and synthesizing data about the College’s distance-delivered education program.
  • Assisting with the implementation of changes based on those data as well as the recommendations made by the Higher Learning Commission.
  • Regularly representing DLIT in campus and community meetings.
  • Lisa Gloege
    • Taught an Intro to Clickers session through the CTE
    • Met with a faculty member using clickers to answer questions
    • Reviewing courses for online course review committee mtg
    • Requested data on hybrid courses for analysis
    • Staffed open BB lab
  • Gary Ebels
    • Reviewed Online Courses in preparation for November meeting
    • Attended first meeting the the G-Mail Migration Team
    • Staffed DLIT Open Lab
    • Prepared for presentation at GRCC Adjunct Learning Day Saturday
    • Reviewed and replied to the ongoing discussions within DLIT
  • Mursalata Muhammad
    • Reviewed Online Courses in preparation for Nov.  meeting (1.5hrs)
    • Worked on DLIT Liaison proposal (1hr)
    • Showed Andre fields how to enroll students in ABO Bb Sight (5hrs)
    • Staffed DLIT Open Lab (3.25hrs)
    • Sent follow-up emails to faculty who sought DLIT lab help: Randall Creswell & Jevon Willis (.75hrs)
    • Composed & emailed weekly DLIT report: Eric J. Kunnen (.25hrs)
