GRCC participates at ETOM Fall Conference

On Friday, November 2nd, several Grand Rapids Community College faculty and staff attended the Educational Technology Organization of Michigan (ETOM) Fall Conference in Midland, Michigan at Northwood University.

Eric Kunnen (DLIT), Garry Brand (Business Department and DLIT), Szymon Machajewski (Computer Applications Department), Colette Smiley (Dental Department), and Brent Spitler (Business Department) participated in the conference this year which was the largest event in 10 years for ETOM with over 110 attendees.  There were 16 institutions represented from across the state and participants were able to select from 12 breakout sessions by 16 presenters.

Here are a few highlights from the conference:

As the current ETOM President of the Board, Eric Kunnen, Director of Distance Learning and Instructional Technologies, introduced the keynote speaker and served as the “MC” for the event.

Garry Brand, Professor in the Business Department and DLIT faculty facilitator, delivered the keynote at the conference.  The title of his talk was: “Don’t “Just Do It!”, #makeitcount Can Emerging Technologies Lead to Online Course Quality?”
