  • Participated in Blackboard Project AX meetings for focusing on accessibility in new features coming, along with a webinar on Open Digital Content.

DLIT Staff Reports

This area includes accomplishments, milestones, or comments from DLIT staff that is not included in the work outlined in the Department and College Action Projects area and categories above.

  • Eric Kunnen
    • Provided feedback to Vicki J, and Lisa F on MQA needs for how we work with Blackboard and participate in product feedback, advancement, focus groups, betas, etc.
    • Authored and submitted DL CAP update work documents for Donna K.
    • Worked to focus on tracking remaining issues with Bb with IT.
    • Responded to NISOD director about connecting with faculty who are flipping the classroom at GRCC.
    • Coordinated Projectxp xpLor Beta which begins in September.  This will enable increase sharing of content objects and is connected to the work toward a master course template.
    • Held “Flipped Classroom” meeting with 3 designers from Steelcase.
    • Compiled a report for Becky A in DSS Testing services for Lansing Community College who is requesting the  number of Online/Hybrid classes offered per year.
    • Helped faculty and students and tracked 15 in the tracking spreadsheet on the topics of gradebook, printing photo roster, course copy, archive/restore, browser issues, announcement display, troubleshooting file permissions etc.
    • Assisted IT in troubleshooting user login issues with Bb.
    • Sent postcards for the ETOM Fall Conference to 48 faculty.
    • Updated the DLIT Department Action Plans to connect persistence, transfer, and completion areas for the college’s Completion Agenda.
    • Attended Writing Goals & Outcomes for the Performance Evaluation (for Supervisors) training.
    • Attended the meeting for the Learning Environments Team.  Discussions centered around involving more students and the work to revise the 2-5 floors of Cook Hall.

    • Met with Judy B. regarding CO 122 – a new online course – a one-on-one training on how to Share from Camtasia Studio to Relay and how to embed relay video files in Blackboard. Discussed next steps. Judy does not feel that she will be complete with development before the upcoming September Online Course Review Team Meeting (9/17/12).
    • Helped Eric deep clean the office, 125 Main.
    • Emailed the Distance Learning Faculty Advisory Board on 9/4 to find out the next steps and to get the group convened now that the fall semester is underway.
    • Assisted other faculty/staff/student drop ins and submitted tracking forms to http://www.grcc.edu/tracking – summary is available here [https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/viewanalytics?key=0Av8C6IlT6vu-cERzaFRHSFh2Wk1GVDlqY0hVNm1YQmc] – 12 faculty/staff/students, (1) error when attempting to post announcement in Blackboard, (2) unable to log into Blackboard, does not remember username, (3) having issues editing assignments in Blackboard – needed to upgrade Firefox, (4) Blackboard discussion board – change author and delete old starter threads, (5) How to add a new student to already created groups in Blackboard, (6) login error, (7) experiencing issues attempting to change dates in Blackboard, (8) Received a weird email message in return when sent out an announcement in Blackboard – can disregard, just has a Bb email address in her course perhaps from troubleshooting, (9) how to easily print an exam to give a student a hard copy – use Repondus, (10) having problems connecting to Blackboard with Repondus, both with preconfigured settings as well as edited settings – determined that users must be on version 4.0.5.02 of Respondus for it to work with our version of Blackboard. The version in Novell Zen needs to be updated and some users may need assistance uninstalling the older version and installing the new one on locked down Windows computers,  (11) announcements and banner not showing up for students, (12) help deciphering a student question and a question on how to open PowerPoints on an iPad and view speaker notes.

        • My name is Michael and I cannot log into blackboard and I have homework that must be submitted by tonight. When I try to log in I get this error message: Could not login. Valid authentication credentials were not provided. I’ve changed my password and reset my security questions a few times and it still hasn’t worked. What do I have to do to be able to login. Thank you.
        • Hello. I am inquiring for my son, who is 27 and living near Boston, Massachusetts. I recently learned of the Advanced Manufacturing Partnership and its goals, and have begun an online search for schools offering what yours does, but have so far been unable to find one in this area. So, I have two questions: 1) Can a student begin your advanced manufacturing degree online, and 2) Do you know of any schools in the Boston area that offer what you do in terms of an advanced manufacturing degree?
