  • Eric Kunnen
    • Bb Upgrade Completed – The upgrade went well.  The server needed settings tweaked which is part of the normal process of customizing the system.
    • Attended Deans Council Meeting
    • Held Bb Collaborate Conference Call / Meeting – Met with Kevin O, Nick L, Jana S, Mark G to discuss plans for Bb IM, Voice Tools, and Collaborate.
    • Composed and Sent “Back to School” Email to All Faculty
    • Attended an ADA Meeting led by Kathy K with Mike V, John C, Deb B, Anne S, Sarah R, Amy K, and Ann A.
    • Held a meeting with Kurt M in IT to discuss communication strategies and help desk support for Bb.
    • Held an ADA Meeting with Bb Inc., a student, Anne S, Sarah R, Mark N, Meegan W, and Cheryl K on the topic of accessability in Bb.
    • Attended OHCC Final Presentations Session
    • Held a Classroom Tech Meeting with Mark N to discuss classroom technology work for Fall.
    • Attended an HLC meeting with Ric U to discuss sub-team work for reviewing the recommendations submitted by HLC.
    • Answered and supported faculty dropping into 125M and via email around the Bb upgrade and instructional technology support.
    • Attended the Summer Technology Institute and talked with faculty participants.
    • Worked on editing CSS for the Blackboard 9.1 SP9 release to improve readability and to underline hyperlinks not enabled by the 2012 theme.
    • Worked on process, project management, and tracking of issues with Bb upgrade with IT.

    • Met with Marcia R. to answer questions on Blackboard for Fall courses on August 16th.
    • Met with Mathea R. to determine the easiest way to get publisher test banks into Blackboard and for a Respondus training on August 16th.
    • August 17th, attended a conference call with Cheryl Kautz, Mark Nordblom, Sarah Rose, Garry Brand, Anne Sherman, a GRCC student, and JoAnna Hunt (from Blackboard) regarding accessibility issues and the experience of navigating our Blackboard environment with Jaws.
    • Co-facilitated the OHCC Final Presentations on August 17th.
    • Reviewing all OHCC final presentations for grading and feedback – all week.
    • Attended the HLC Distance Learning Recommendations Large Team Meeting on August 20th.
    • Set-up, prep, and clean-up of the Summer Technology Institute (STI).
    • Supported the Blackboard Bootcamp/Basics session of the STI, August 20th.
    • Co-facilitated the i>clicker session of the STI with Lisa G., August 20th.
    • Co-facilitated the Advanced Blackboard session of the STI with Garry B., August 21st.
    • Supported the Advanced Teaching Online session of the STI, August 21st.
    • Co-facilitated the Advanced Classroom Technologies session with Gary E., August 22nd.
    • Met with Paul P. to answer some final questions related to his development of a new hybrid, CLS 101. Paul is done with the development and will be filling out the self-evaluation and submitting it for committee review within a week. The target is to have this course available for Winter 2013.
    • Assisted other faculty drop-ins in person, via phone, email, and Blackboard IM. Submitted tracking forms to – summary is available here [] –  15 faculty and staff members, (1) how to add a student to a F12 course to finish an incomplete from F11, (2) issues with new visual text-box editor (VTBE) and course links in Blackboard, (3) how to add a banner in Blackboard, (4) content area not copying from previous Blackboard course, (5) multiple file uploader not working, (6) drop by for Blackboard questions, (7) courses not showing up in Blackboard, but faculty was assigned to them in PeopleSoft, (8) how to find an old course and have it restored, (9) course copy questions, (10) interactive rubrics in Blackboard, (11) combining sections or tests, (12) how to deploy a test in Blackboard, (13) course availability not sticking, (14) how to unhide the announcements tool so students can access it, (15) course copy question – groups and discussion boards not copying properly.

      • I am interested in the Network Specialist Certificate offered through Grand Rapids Community College and MCCVLC. I have a few of questions concerning it. If you are unable to answer them, please direct them to someone that would be able to. Thank you very much.
        • When will the A+ Certification Prep I and II be available online
          through GRCC? Is it available through another of the MCCVLC community
          colleges online? I live in a part of Michigan which is far from any
          community colleges and taking even one or two courses on campus would
          not be an option for me.
        •  Are all of the other courses listed in the Network Specialist
          Certificate online program available to be taken online? The reason I’m
          asking is because I could not find recent semester course offerings for
          some of them. I had to go back as far as 2004 to find the last time some
          of them were offered online. Am I just not finding where and when they
          are offered through the MCCVLC ?
        • Do I have to be enrolled at GRCC or can I be enrolled through another Michigan community college in the MCCVLC syste
        • Hi, I need to find out my status at this point for possible classes either in the fall or the winter term. I had my financial aid information sent along for the year, I registered and also had my transcripts sent from NMC in Traverse City and had recieved my student  I.D. and login information. My problem is I have lost my I.D. and login information and while I have not had orientation (and was told I did not have to since I am a transferring student) and at the moment don’t plan to register for fall classes (perhaps winter), I want to make  sure I am ready to go should a opening come up in an online class this fall. I recieved an email recently that I still needed to do something in the student section on line for my financial aid be able to apply to any classes I take there. But I can’t do this if I can’t login. I also want to make sure I would be able to enroll in a class immediately  should there be an opening in an online class that is currently full (a fall one). So if you can help me with my login and general status as a GRCC student at this moment I would appreciate it.
        • I’m a new student this fall semester and missed the blackboard registration portion of the orientation this year. I was wondering how to make an account to access my online class? When I tried to make one it said my information didn’t match and wouldn’t let me make one.

    • Co-facilitated two STI sessions and assisted at a thir
    • Fielded many individual new clicker user questions
  • Gary Ebels
    •  Facilitated the GRCC Blackboard Basics and Gradebook – ONLINE
      courses. Added 2 new learners this week.
    • Facilitated and presented at the GRCC Summer Technology Institute –
      motivated with the eagerness the capacity crowds wanted to learn and
      try new technology.
    • Crashed the SRO presentation of Using Clickers in the Classroom –
      this is going to be big!
    • Spent time trying to break new Bb 9.1 SP8/9 – unsuccessful.
