Blackboard Team Meeting March 29th

Present: Meegan Willi, Mark Nordblom, Garry Brand

SP8

  • Currently on GA.
  • Mark has updated Building Blocks and is checking the remaining blocks to ensure they are up to date for the service pack.
  • Off-campus issues SSH and uploading.
  • Issue with links in folders not underlining – Mark is looking for the patch.
  • Mark will update the database on Friday, March 30th.
  • We will communicate with potential SP 8 pilot faculty next week once we know everything is ready to go with minimal down times.
  • Question for Eric – do we want to update the default Blackboard theme for SP8?

Firewall

  • We are now outside the firewall.

Automation

  • Mark has given the information on the files that Bill will need to turn automation on.
  • Bill will be turning automation on this week to get Summer courses created.

Orientation

  • Mark has given Bill the information on what is needed to populate the student Blackboard Orientation course with Summer students.
  • BBORIENT will be ready to go by the end of this week.

Default Settings

  • Building Block default settings – there is only one setting to make blocks available, unavailable or inactive.
  • Does this control both the institution and course availability? Do building blocks need to be set in individual courses?

Camtasia Relay

  • Mark has requested the server, but is still waiting on it.

For next meeting

  • iTunesU: Update? What is the status? What building block are we using, Vanderbilt, Purdue, and will it work on SP8?
