Professor Garry Brand wins Award at the miBUG Quality Course Showcase

Garry Brand presented his online course as part of the miBUG 2012 Spring Conference.

DLIT attended this conference at Ferris State University.  miBUG is the Michigan Blackboard Users Group and this year featured a series of faculty presentations around online quality.

Using a rubric, the miBUG attendees reviewed, evaluated, and voted on the exemplary course within each category. The rubric used in the review of the courses was from Quality Matters and included the following:

  1. Course Overview and Introduction
  2. Learning Objectives (Competencies)
  3. Assessment and Measurement
  4. Instructional Materials
  5. Learner Interaction and Engagement
  6. Course Technology
  7. Learner Support
  8. Accessibility

Awards were given to first place and runner-up for each category.

Garry Brand, Professor in the Business Department and DLIT Faculty Facilitator Coordinator received the award for the top online quality course!

Blackboard also has a partnership with Quality Matters.  The miBUG opening keynote at the conference focused on the partnership and was delivered by Tom Guckenberg from Blackboard Inc.
