Weekly Updates – January 27

The following updates are from the DLIT Department for the week ending January 27th.

  • Sneak Peek: Service Pack 8 for Blackboard Learn 9.1 – DLIT attended this webinar to learn about new features coming to the next release of Blackboard.  A pilot is being created for this release for the summer 2012.
  • Increase Educator Efficiency Using the New Blackboard Drive and the Learn Content Management Module – DLIT attended this webinar to learn about how to better implement and deploy the Bb Drive tool.

Department Action Projects & College Action Projects

  • Project 1 – Extend DL Program
    • DL Survey – The Distance Learning Student survey was deployed.  This survey was created to obtain information from students regarding GRCC’s online program.
    • DL CAP – The team met in small teams to continue working on the project list.
  • Project 2 – Enhance Classroom and Instructional Technologies

  • Project 3 – Extend Blackboard Learn, Content, Community
    • Bb Meeting – The Bb meeting this week was rescheduled as Mark Nordblom is at Bb Headquarters for final Bb training.

DLIT Staff Reports

This area includes accomplishments, milestones, or comments from DLIT staff that is not included in the work outlined in the Department and College Action Projects area and categories above.

  • Eric Kunnen
    • Classroom Tech Team – Working to setup initial meeting and agenda with Mark and David for discussing classroom technologies issues, advancements, training, etc.
    • DL Survey – Deployed the Distance Learning Student survey.
    • HLC – Data gathering, coordination, and preparation.
    • Project meeting for ISIS – Attending meeting, topics discussed including record management and planning for FPD opportunities in the future.
    • HLC Meeting with Financial Aid – Met with Jill for HLC ideas and her experiences with accreditation.
    • ACTL EDUCAUSE Meeting – Attended the committee meeting and discussed surveys for conferences – online and f2f.
    • Bb and DL Reports – A report was assembled and shared with Deans and IT regarding Bb usage, survey, and DL feedback submitted by students.
  • Meegan Willi
    • Week of January 23-27
    • Assisted faculty and submitted tracking forms to
    • Met with Eric and Jose regarding upcoming HLC visit
    • Updated Faculty Voices website to include links to more blog posts from more recent months
    • Composed blog post Tips from Tim
    • Added URLs and descriptions to HLC Site Visit Organization in Blackboard
    • Prep for Blackboard Collaborate Session Friday
    • Attended SP8 Webinar
    • Met with Eric, Jose and Jill Nutt in preparation for HLC Visit on January 25th
    • Attended Blackboard Team Meeting on January 26th
    • Held virtual training for using the Blackboard Collaborate Building Block on January 27th
    • Attended Sustainability Team Meeting on January 26
    • Assisted in Friday OHCC Optional face-to-face session
    • Attended DL CAP Meeting on January 27th

    • worked on logistics for ITC conference
