Fall 2011 miBUG Meeting

Click for Video

The Michigan Blackboard Users Group (miBUG) had their Fall 2011 meeting on Friday, November 11 at the Lettinga Campus (Sneden Center) of Davenport University. You can see more detail on their “Events” page. I appreciate the efforts that DU put into hosting this meeting. A great facility and a great job of honoring our veterans (see video)!

I attended a session on the “Discussion Board Dilemma” by Laura Sandera of Davenport University. She shared some good resources on adding (or providing alternatives) to the Discussion Board tool in Blackboard. I’m always interested in learning about new ways to engage the learner – especially since most students never user a forum outside academia! The resources she shared can be found on her Glogster EDU Blog.

I also attended a session on Audio Lectures in the Online Classroom by Dr. Julia VanderMolen and Maryly Skallos of Davenport University. The session provided the participants with “some valuable tools, tips and tricks for creating an edutaining lecture for the online classroom.”  I’m very excited to try Brainshark now!
