ETOM Fall Conference – GRCC Faculty Invited!

On Friday, October 14th, GRCC will be hosting the Fall Educational Technology Organization of Michigan (ETOM) conference.

GRCC faculty are welcome, encouraged, and invited to attend! The conference covers a wide array of topics related to advancing online learning and the intersection between teaching, learning, and technology. If you are teaching at GRCC as a full time or adjunct faculty… like DLIT on Facebook and we’ll pay for your $60 registration!

Mobile development for phones and tablets in a single IDE
– Szymon Machajewski, GRCC
This presentation will show how a single programming language can be use to design, develop, and distribute mobile apps for Apple, Google, and Blackberry platforms. This approach can be used in teaching to maximize the exposure of students to mobile platforms.

Web 2.0 Support Group – All Users Welcome
– Gary Ebels & Szymon Machajewski, GRCC
This session starts with an overview of top accessories and gadgets for your iPod, iPad, Droid or other device followed by demonstrations of applications perfect for education as well as personal productivity. We will also discuss using Twitter to engage students and increase time on task and show how tweeting can support student learning outcomes by seeding a Personal Learning Network.

Teaching Online? How is that going for you?

A session to look and share many of the old and new techniques and technologies to deliver a effective course online. Come to see and share some best practices and innovations that can be implemented to keep students excited about learning online.
