Weekly Updates – March 4

The following updates for the the Distance Learning and Instructional Technologies Department for the week ending March 4th.

DEPARTMENTAL – This category includes general tasks, ongoing maintenance, issue tracking, faculty support, and other duties related to the department’s operations.

  • Faculty Support Tickets – In the past week, DLIT responded to 33 requests for assistance regarding Blackboard and other instructional technologies. Time spent over the week of the 18th is estimated at: 530 minutes or 8.8 hours
  • Academic Administration Team Meeting – The AAT met and discussed plans to assist in the prioritization of campus projects related to academics.  The new Web site and process therein was also discussed.
  • OHCC Planning Meeting – Luann Keizer, Lisa Gloege, Diane Sparks, and Garry Brand met to discuss and plan for the upcoming OHCC course that begins after Spring Break.  They broke down tasks related to the following categories:
    A. Prior to Orientation
    B. Orientation
    C. During Cohort
    D. After Course Completion

ACCESS – GRCC minimizes the barriers of time, place, cost, and educational preparation levels so that all members of the community have an opportunity to participate in college programs.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH – GRCC enriches the community through educational and civic programming and partnerships.

  • BbStats Building Block –  The University of Tennessee Knoxville mentioned using GRCC’s BbStats Building Block for gathering system statistics out of the system.  This Building Block was written by Szymon Machajewski and shared on the Blackboard opensource site.
