Chad Sytsma – Leveraging Assignments in Blackboard

Chad Sytsma has been an adjunct instructor in the Business Department for 5 years.  He teaches Computer Keyboarding, Business Word Processing 1, and Computer Applications in Business.

Managing Student Assignments in Blackboard

As a faculty member in the Business Department, I have found Blackboard to be the best tool to manage my students’ assignments. I used to collect assignments by paper and email but that quickly became inefficient, time consuming and difficult to organize and manage.  This is where the use of Assignment folders and the Blackboard Assignment Tool comes in.  I can easily create and deliver assignments to students while using the time/date settings to restrict when students can access and submit work.

Upon student submission of their work, I can easily grade and comment on them through Blackboard, using any computer available to me.  The folders and assignment tool in Blackboard has really made a big difference to me and my students as I can now more efficiently and effectively manage student assignments for both grading and returning grade comments.
